KOA Community Service For Two Tutu’s in Waiahole
Time & Location
About the Event
On the morning of Feb 13, one of our Knights of Aloha (KOA) Leadership Members received a frantic phone call requesting for help after a tragic accident in Waiahole Valley. Two (2) Tutu’s (Grandmother’s) and one grandchild had their home go up in flames. Luckily, KOA was immediately able to provide the family with the necessary provision such as food, clothing, and water.
The residents have been in their home since 1959 and unfortunately, they do not have insurance.
This weekend (Sunday, Feb 21st), KOA will be going back to the Tutu’s property to help them build a comfortable living space. We will be putting a roof in between two (2) shipping containers that will now become their home. We will also be building a deck and a bathroom. Additionally, we will clear out the property with unnecessary weeds and brush.
We ask for your Kokua (help) to provide this family a comfortable place to stay while they find a way to rebuild. If you are unable to provide your time, we kindly ask for your donations so that we can purchase the necessary material needed for this project.
- Please RSVP for food & drink head count and confirm with T-Shirt size for KOA Volunteer Shirt. You must be registered as a KOA Member in order to receive a KOA Volunteer Shirt.
- If we could kindly request not to bring your children since this area will be under construction.
- Once RSVP’d, we will send you the site addresses.
If you can donate building materials, please contact Rich directly at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will make arrangements to pick up the materials.
